July 2012 – Volunteer of the Month
By RightRides | July 1, 2020 | Volunteer of the Month
AKI: Last year, my sister was visiting NYC and she would go out and explore the city. When she was going to be out really late, I would tell her to take a taxi home instead of MTA and that I would pay for the fare. After she left, I happened to meet two volunteers from RightRides who told me about the organization. I looked it up online and I really connected with RightRides’ motto: “Because getting home safely shouldn’t be a luxury.” I realize that many people do not have the resources to pay for a taxi (or pay for the sister’s taxi) to get home safely. So I contacted the organization and became a driver and have been driving someone else’s sister home a few times every month since then.
