Lani:
I have been volunteering for RightRides for 15 months now and even though I’m honored to accept Volunteer of the Month, I have to thank the organizers and the people I’ve driven with for making it so easy and fun.
I worked as a safety walker in college and was happy to find such a well-established program in NYC when I moved here. I volunteer for RightRides because I strongly believe in their mission. I believe that women and all people deserve a sense of safety and hope that our presence, as RightRides volunteers, will help to make that a reality for the groups we serve.
When I’m not volunteering for RightRides, you might find me in the lab (since I’m a graduate student in molecular biology), coffee shop, live music show, gallery opening, or helping my sister with a crazy art project. I also enjoy running and biking around Brooklyn, when there isn’t 3 feet of snow on the ground.
